whew! I made it!

Happy Saturday! It has been so long since I have written. This semester was good, exhausting but good! There was a lot of writing to do but it was good! I turned in my last paper Wednesday night so I am free… for now! Haha I have a couple of weeks until the summer session starts. I have not been doing a very good job of watching the sun rise or set or finding geocaches. I have finished three books. I did finish a journal and started another one. I might be taking a summer class but I am looking forward to spending a lot of time this summer checking things off of my list! I am going to take naps, and take pictures and read books… Oh the plans of summer, let’s see what actually gets done.

Ok lets see, like I said this semester was pretty good. I really liked my action research class. The global science class was aight, I ended up with an A in that class  and in the action research class it looks like I got an A as well but I only saw that when I logged on to see the first A, I’ll take it!  I am taking a class during the month of June. It will be every day for a couple hours. I am looking forward to it. I have heard really good things about this class! It is in the middle of the afternoon so that is a good time. I will have some time to sleep in and then if I wanna hang out there are still evenings.

There are a few things I have learned things in the first year of grad school… 1) you might be smart but you don’t know anything! 2) Technology has changed so much in 15 years, and if it hasn’t changed I still haven’t learned to use it! 3) The colleagues you make are such an interesting group. You all have so much in common yet you have nothing in common… and that makes for a pretty solid friendship! 4) the anxiety of waiting for grades to post never goes away! 5) grad school is a fine line of being very knowledgable of one very particular thing and talking about it with people that are knowledgeable of their own particaluar thing… and not knowing anything! Over all, I have enjoyed it! I am being pushed out of my comfort zone, I don’t like it but that’s how we grow right!?

So, in the past couple of months I have started five books but a couple of them I needed to be in a different place mentally in order to finish them. One of them I didn’t get very far in one of them the other one I am a little over half way. I might have to start it again though because I am not sure I know what was going on! So, I have finished three books. The last one I read was The Store by Bentley Little. It took a couple very strange turns that I was not expecting! Haha Over all it wasn’t bad. Probably about a 8. Missing by K.L. Slater was pretty good. A little predictable but not bad… maybe a 7.I started the last of the unwind series by Neal Shusterman. I have read these books very spread out but overall, it is pretty easy to get caught up with what was happening in the other books. Now that I don’t have school work to do I am hoping to read a few more books!

Most of you that know me know that my mode of organization is an adapted bullet journal. I make the pages do what I want and need them to do. For instance I do a three week spread. It is not a full month because I want the boxes to be bigger so that I can fit more in them. Then I do a page where I keep a few days along the side with the things I have going on of the things that are due or need to be done. Then on that page I do my daily todo lists. It is a system I have been working on for a while and it works well for me! Then of course I put washi tape on the edges and color code the pages.

School is almost, I don’t know if we are counting down more or the kids! Haha The kids are going crazy! A kid lit some toilet paper on fire in the bathroom today and a teacher burned his finger trying to put it out. The kids also waited about 10 minutes before they told anyone. The kid that ended up telling is a kid that is usually in trouble, lets call him D, so it was kinda nice that he was the voice of reason! Poor kid though anyone that saw him in the office just assumed it was him! When the kid walked in to the bathroom and saw the smoke he ran to the office to tell an adult. When one of the other kids said that he was trying to get a teachers attention D said “Nah that looks suspicious.” Kids are super sketchy sometimes, and sometimes they surprise you!

This week was teacher appreciation our campus gave us pens, highlighters, markers, notepads and journals, donuts and snacks. They made us breakfast tacos, nachos, elote and had a “Mexican cook out”. Don’t worry I asked “is it a Mexican cook out because there was Mexican food or because Mexicans were cooking?” It was tacos… So Mexican food! haha I do appreciate all of that but my favorite gifts were the ones from the kids. I got some chocolates, some perfume, 5 jolly ranchers , a chick-fil-a gift card and a hand written thank you card. It was a good week!

We got word yesterday they are taking the kids chromebooks this week so I should probably come up with a plan of what we are going to do for 2 weeks with no tech. We will have to kick it old school or I will show a movie! haha I should probably finish working on some grades. Kids have turned things in late and they are all stressed out that I haven’t graded them! I tell them “If you take extra time to do it, I get extra time to grade it!” They don’t like that! Well I hope that everyone has a good rest of your weekend! I hope to blog more frequently. haha I know I know! I say that all the time! Stick with me!

One response to “whew! I made it!”

  1. Lol! Great time reading this. I need to get a copy of your bullet to do and see if it works for me. Hooray for hard work paying off! Good graduate class tips, I’m going to pass those along.
