Is this week over yet?

Happy Thursday! I hope that everyone is doing well! Man this week has gone by so slow! It is the last week of the 6 weeks it is state writing season and the kids are wound a little tight! The kids spend all 6 weeks doing nothing then in the last week of the 6 weeks they want to be all shocked they are failing. It happens every 6 weeks. So I don’t know how many of you I told about my pant conundrum. So the 3 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks we got to wear jeans. Well we came back from Christmas break and I had like no pants to wear! I was like what the heck was I wearing before Thanksgiving!?!? Well I think I figured out that the weather was still kinda nice those weeks leading up to thanksgiving. So I was wearing capris and stuff. It has been kinda cold so now I need pants. So no one needs to be alarmed. I didn’t lose pants. I just realized that I need more pants instead of capris! Haha

Just a little story of somethings that have happened this week. (remember it is only Thursday)! So Monday nothing too crazy happened. All of my kids that were in quarantine came back to class so you know catching them up and all that was kinda crazy. I stayed at school till like 8 making sure that all my grades were updated so that my kids knew if they were failing! We have to make our kids write so that we can see how well our students are growing in their English proficiency. It is just a pain in the butt, however it has to be done! Well one of my students told another student that I didn’t know his limits and boundaries because I wouldn’t allow him to turn in 2 sentences! Another student told one of his classmates, “Get your ass out of here” then when I was like dude can we not use that word in here please he said what word?!? Then the next day told me he was so mad because in math he had to write a big ass paper! The 2 kids we will call them C and J left my class, where they sit at the same table. Walked 2 doors down and exchanged some words, C walked away. He changed his mind and then came back he and J started fighting1! C got in a few good hits and then bailed! Leaving J to have to find his glasses and then by the time we figured it out he was the one standing there! C is a frequent flier so we knew him, J was the surprise! Yesterday Ii was standing in the hall between classes when out of nowhere a can of dr pepper came flying over the edge of the stairs and some poor kid almost got hit in the head! He was like ma’am did you see that!?! I told him yeah I did, are you ok? He said “did you see!?!? It almost hit me in the head?!?! Where did it come from!?!?” Dude your guess is as good as mine! My students were talking about some video of something that happened in the bathroom with some 7th graders. These are just things that happened to me! I know a coworker that got called names in spanish. There was whatever video my kids were talking about. The week hasn’t all been crazy! I had some good conversations with my kids. Here are a few of the ones I wrote down!

Alvaro: Ms when you turned the Nearpod page we can’t work on it anymore!

Me: oh my bad! Lo siento! I’m sorry!

Emeterio: no you’re not ms?

Me: you’re right… I’m not

Emeterio: I told you Ms!

Jonathan: Ms can we have a little brain break. I feel very sorry for the people that had to present when the principal was here.

Jiovanny: If you had left me alone I wouldn’t have had to present while he was here but you kept saying “he will go, it’s his turn!”

Jade: Ms I got in trouble is Ms Lowrys class

Me: Why?

Jade: I was talking too much

Me: That seems to be the general problem you have.

Jade: I am not a problem!

Me: I didn’t say you were a problem, I said that talking is the problem that gets you in trouble.

Jade: Ms its not really a problem

Me: R(before I can finish the word)

Jade: Oh it is a problem I don’t know why I am lying to myself!

Gisselle: Ms How are tsunamis formed?

Me: earthquakes under water

Frank: How are Tornadoes formed

Me: hot air and cold air mixing together

Alan: Ms how are black holes formed.

Me: ok we are getting a little off task we will get back to that

Alan: nooooo I need to know!

Jade: Ms I like your braid

Me: Thanks my hair was was down and *i motioned it being everywhere*

Jason: aww I like it when it’s like that.

Ricky: Ms. I have boogers

Me; Do you need a tissue?

Ricky: No I’m good *sucks them in to his nose*

Diego: Ms. Can I go out in the hall and cry?

Me: um… Sure? But can you do it so that I can see you

Diego: Ok Ms Thanks!

(I thought he was joking with me but the poor kid was having a shitty day. I let him stand in the and just not be around people for a little while!)

I have started keeping a page open and when I have a conversation that makes me smile I write it down. So don’t worry you will be getting these from time to time! Haha Well I am going to go to dinner with a friend and then to go to bed! I am working on a valentines blog that I will put out this weekend! I hope that everyone has a good Friday! I feel you. This has been a super long week. It started with parent teacher conferences on Monday and district testing today. Anyway so I have this student, she has huge behavior problems. She does no work and likes to be in groups just so she can bother other students. On Tuesday while my students were in math groups she came and told me that so and so called her the “A” word. I know from experience that she’s usually the one doing the name calling. I tell her to go to her desk and I walk toward the group as if I’m going to scold them. When I get there one of the boys tells me she called me the “B” word. I thought I didn’t hear him right and I said tell me again. He then says, “ Mrs. Rose is such a “b”, and the rest of the group sadly say she did. I was in shock because I’ve never been called that by a student much less a third grader. I’m so glad tomorrow is Friday.
