Dear Coffee,
Thank you. Thank you for all that you do for me and all the forms you come in. When I am a little tired I appreciate the little jolt of energy I get from you. When I am sad I like the nostalgia you offer. When I am cold I like to drink you warm so that you can warm me up from the inside. When I am hot, even though I know I should have water, I like to have you iced. I like you alone or with a pastry. I will drink you sitting at the table, in the park, in the car, on the couch, while I’m working, basically any where!
You come with a lot of memories for me. I remember sitting around with grandma when we would get to her house for a visit. She would percolate a pot and we would eat something sweet and talk. Many great discussions happened with a warm cup! In the morning she had a fresh pot made to help us tackle the day!
I remember the mornings my Grandpa Chava didn’t work but still got up before the sun and had a warm cup. He would add cream and sugar. So much sugar!!! Now I use flavored creamer but sometimes like Grandpa I will just add half and half and sugar. The days that my morning cup tastes like grandpa made it my dad says “grandpa came to have coffee with you.” I like those days! You would think that those days would make me sad, but they make me smile. They remind me of him!
You are so much more than just a beverage, you bring people together. You make awkward situations less awkward. You help people make it through tough times. You help people stay awake on road trips or at work. You make common ground. (haha you see what I did there!?!) You give people something to talk over and about.
Everyone has something to say about you. They either love you, or hate you. Either way when someone mentions you it is always a conversation starter!

Thank you!
Love Naomi
