Even or Odd

Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone is doing well! I am sorry that I have been gone for so long! Both learning school and work schools tarted and I had to hit the ground running! I took the month of July and went to visit my parents in New Mexico. They finally got moved into their project house! It is bitter sweet because as awesome as that is, that means they are moved out of the house that I grew up in. Lot’s of emotions, but overall pretty excited for their new adventure! The “new” house is pretty cool! They weren’t completely in it yet when I was there we were sort of putting it together as we went. Stay tuned for more pictures and stuff. I will get back to writing on the regular!

So, I know why you are all here. It has been so long since I asked a Gute survey question and one surfaced this weekend. So if you are new to a Gute survey I am a curious person, some might call it nosey. The Gute survey started out as a joke to see if people would just answer me or if they needed to know why I was asking. The original Gute survey started with how many ostriches you thought you could fit in your bedroom. You can find that one here. There have been a few over the years! Let’s get in to this one.

This one has been in the making for a while because like I said I went to visit my parents this summer. There is nothing that will help you realize your quarks quite like spending time with some one that you don’t often spend that much time with. It has been a long time since I lived at home and the last time I did I really didn’t do grocery shopping or cook my own meals. Because of that some things that came up was how much I use Rotel, I put it in everything, how much I use garlic salt and obviously how weird I am about odd numbers, or even numbers maybe.

I like even round numbers, you know usually 6, sometimes 2, never 4 but always 8! (look at the shape… the 2’s depend on who’s drawing them (do you draw numbers or write them?)… same with 6’s). 8 is for sure my favorite number. It’s even, round, symmetrical on both the x and y. It just such a great number! haha

When I am collecting things I make sure I have even numbers. Things like candy (you know M&M’s, skittles, or sour patch kids like that size candy). Well the place that this came up the most was at the grocery store. My mother would only grab 3 or 5 avocados 🤯🤯. Blew my mind. She is an odd number kinda person for sure. 3 and 5 of everything. I often asked her why not split the difference and just make it 4? She looked at me like I was crazy!

So this weekend I was hanging out with Mimi and we were eating Sweet tart minis and chatting. I grabbed a few from the bag, organized them in my hand then I was handing the odd ones out to Mimi and she just took them a few times until finally she realized I was handing her 1 at a time. When she asked why I was just handing her 1 I told her because that is the odd man out and I don’t like to eat the candies in odd numbers and if I can avoid it the colors should match too. We started the whole conversation about the number of avocados she would buy. The more I talk to people I am starting to think I am the weirdo here… So here we are… the results to the Gute Survey.

Looks like no one buys just 1 avocado! The 2 and 6 slice both had 2 responses and 5 and more than 7 were 3 responses. It looks like most people buy 3 avocados at nearly 46%. Mind blowing 🤯🤯!

57% of people said that they prefer even numbers yet only 37% of people admit to buying vegetables in even numbers. If you buy odd numbers there is always an odd one out! As someone pointed out the only acceptable odd number is a multiple of 5. It is like an honorary even number.

Well I should get back to my homework. So that I am not doing it Tuesday night before bed! I hope that everyone has a good week!
