Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone is having a great weekend! I am doing pretty well! I took a lot of time to just chill. I have to finish my final for my class but I feel good about that one. I finished a book and started another one. I know you guys know about book club but we also have transparent secrete book club! a few of us had the same book on our TBR and I got tired of waiting so we went ahead and read it and discussed it after we discussed the general book. It was probably better because We have been on a scary book kick. I appreciate that the book club is pushing me out of my comfort zone and forcing me to red some books I wouldn’t normally read but also giving me space to talk to people about the ones I tend to gravitate towards!
So Friday I woke up with a crick in my neck, or so I thought. By Saturday it was a pain in my back! Last night I slept horribly as I tossed and turned and couldn’t find a good way to lay that it didn’t hurt. I haven’t done anything out of the ordinary. All I can think of is that I slept weird. You know you are getting old when you wake up with strange pains just from sleeping! Seely was teasing me that I looked like batman when I turned. I think I looked more like the guy from Men in Black! haha
It is crazy that at almost 40 you can hurt yourself sleeping strange or sneezing or coughing but when we were kids we could do so much to our bodies! Let me tell you a story from when I was younger. a story about me and my brother playing t-rex football!
This is a very rough sketch of the layout of the house I grew up in. Something else you should know is that during the summers as we got older we stayed home alone. My parents would rent us movies we had food… you know… the late 90’s early 2000’s! Everything was fine.
So this particular day in question we were supposed to be watching tomb raider. You know the movie with Angelina Jolie? Well we had rented it and it was due that evening I think but we were having a hard time getting through it.
We used to play a game we called T-Rex football in the house. We would get on our knees and put our hands in our shirt so that we had little t rex arms. We had a soft football we would use, and our playing field was the green strip in the picture.

The game was played like human football. You know 4 downs the ball changes hands, you get to the end zone and you make points for your team. So this particular day we were “watching” tomb raider and we got bored and started playing t-rex football. I was down by a touchdown and I got past my brother. His response was to grab my foot and pull it our from underneath me. I was carrying the football with one of my t-rex arms. and the other one was stick in my shirt! I was already down a touchdown and I really could not afford a fumble so I was not about to let go of the football. I did what anyone in my situation would have done. I ducked my head and took it for the team! Well I was going a little fast than I realized and when I hit the ground I ended up with a rug burn on my forehead! I think I ended up losing and I had a rug burn I had to explain to people.
The part of the story that I failed to mention is we weren’t small children when this happened. This happened in the afternoon before I drove myself to my job. I was like 15 when this happened! At the time I worked in a restaurant. I had to explain to those people why I had a rug burn on my forehead. I know for a fact they didn’t believe I was plying t-rex football, and being a young high school student they for sure had their own narrative of what happened! haha good times!
If I did that now I can promise you I wouldn’t be moving for days on top of the rug burn on my forehead! haha well I have been writing this blog outside in the backyard and I think I am done letting the mosquitos attack me! In case you were wondering I have 65 outside hours. It is getting closer and closer to needing 4 hours of outside time! I am really banking a lot of hours on spending time outside while I am in New Mexico this summer! Oh and maybe some summer time swimming. If anyone wants to chill outside in the near future let me know! haha I hope that everyone has a good week!
