Happy Monday! I hope that all my Texas people have stayed warm and safe. I didn’t do much of anything this holiday weekened. I have already fallen behind on my blog goal! don’t worry I will get it together! haha
Classes started this past week. I am taking classes on Monday and Thursday. I have never been this spread out in my week so I am a little concerned about how that is going to go. I know I was concerned about last semester because I had class back to back but I really liked it. Let me go to a couple weeks of classes and I will let you know how those are going! haha What I do like about class on Thursday is that after that late night I just have to make it one more day till the weekend!
A couple weeks ago we got “snow” in the metroplex. There was talk of maybe getting some this week too but it looks like it might have passed us by. There doesn’t seem to be moisture just cold! I grew up in a place where we had snow! It is kinda crazy to think about the differences. When I as in school my dad worked for the city and and he worked snow call. So he either would plow the streets or run a truck that would lay down sand and salt. By the time he retired he was more the guy that would make the decision to start calling out guys to start clearing the streets. There are a lot of memes going around about how kids today learn about a snow in a text message but we had to read the ticker tape at the bottom of the news! Well my brother and I had an even better way of finding out. If we woke up in the morning and my dad had been called out we knew we had at least a 2 hour delay! It was really dependent on how long he had been out! Since our municipalities had the tools to deal with the weather we didn’t get a snow day just because it snowed. There had to be a lot of snow! We also were taught now to drive in the conditions. Our parents took us to deserted parking lots and showed us how to maneuver with it was slick. I miss snow just sitting at the end of a parking lot or on the side of the road without the ice. I saw it all the time. The snow is the only thing that makes the cold worth it!
I am not sure if you all know that I keep my “Christmas” tree up all year. I decorate it for the different seasons or holidays. I also like the ambiance that the lights give the room. My living room is really dark so it adds a little extra light. Well, it has been up and used full time like this for about 3 years so in the past couple months the lights have started to go out! Well last weekend I was down to just one strand! My mom said that it looked like my tree was wearing a hoola-hoop. So I ordered new lights and I relit my tree last night! Now I just have to decide what I am going to use to decorate. Maybe Valentines day!

Just a random story because I am writing this blog at Starbucks while I am waiting to go pick up my Kroger order. The crazy thing is this is the second time this has happened in like 4 days. The kid that was paying at the register just pulled out a wad of cash. Like it might have all been ones but it was a pretty hefty stack! there was no wallet, there was money clip just folded in half and in his pocket! Friday when I was at dollar general another kid walked in carrying a stack of money that was so large it didn’t fold. He was just carrying it! Any Gen-Z readers I have questions: do you guys not know about wallets? Why do you have so much cash just hanging around? Am I just old? Is this what people are doing these days? Was it just a coincidence? Where are you getting these wads of cash? Is this a consistent thing? So many questions!
Changing directions here, so my 2025 outside goals… is going… I have 11.5 hours outside, I know that isn’t quite where I should be in order to make my goals however, it has been super cold out! haha I have a couple kids that eat lunch in my room and I have made them eat outside with me in this little courtyard that we have. I am hoping that when it warms up a little I can take my class out to that courtyard to work on assignments out there!
I just got the phone call from the district saying yup it’s going to be cold but we are having school so bundle up! The problem I have is that my classroom is either the arctic tundra or the Sahara desert, nothing in between so I also have to dress in layers! I also I just got the text message that my groceries are ready for pick up so I leave you all with this: every mile is two in the cold! haha
