Happy Wednesday! I hope that everyone is having a great week. The days all kind of merge together when you don’t have anywhere to be. This is the first summer in a couple years that I had NOTHING to do! Like NOTHING! It has been nice. Since my graduation (May 10) I have read 14 books and watched about 12 seasons of Law and Order SVU, I have done a 2000 piece puzzle and I started diamond painting. I don’t think I am a fan! It has been sitting on the dining room table exactly the way I left it Sunday! It is a good thing I have a few friends that have invited me out in to the world or I would just lay around and read. I mean there are worse things I could be doing right… Like meth!?
I am not going to review all the books I have read so far but I strongly recommend Salem’s lot, I had never seen the movie but I was not expecting a vampire book, but I liked it! The locked door, That Frieda McFadden is big right now, it was a fast read and I did not see the end coming! NOS4A2 by Joe Hill was SOOO Good! 5 stars for sure! It was suspenseful and kept me intrigued and not wanting to put it down! If I had to do it again I would pass on all the missing girls, to me 2 missing girls is not “all”. The second book of the mysterious Benedict society was not nearly as good as the first. It took me way longer than it should have to finish it because I found myself doing other things instead of reading. I have read a few Stephen King books this summer and I have a couple more that I am planing on reading. I am looking to branch out a little more but he has such a market on those Horror books! I am working on the strain series by Guillermo Del Toro. Also it wasn’t a book I have read recently but I strongly recommend The store by Bentley Little I recently saw a review for another one of his books and now I am on a quest to read more from him.
This past weekend I hosted Book Club. Again, because of the rules and the intensity of the book club I can’t tell you much about what happens. However, what I can tell you is that I am so grateful for all of these people in my life! I volunteered to host Book Club on my birthday and it was awesome! I know I have told you guys about my friend Carlee, again I say if you don’t have a friend like her… you are missing out! Maybe it is because I have a summer birthday, or maybe it is something else, but birthdays were never like a giant deal. I mean we had cake and stuff and parties when we were younger but that is about it. Carlee wants people to feel loved and special on their birthday. This year was no different! There was an adult piñata and a cookie cake (Mike and Maggie brought the cookie cake)! We all asked what an “adult piñata” was! But it had little adult beverages, nice pens and Advil and antacids ! haha
I don’t know how you celebrated birthdays as a child, but we either went out to the nicest restaurant in town, the red lobster, or mom made our favorite meal. My birthday meal was always green chile chicken enchiladas! So obviously that is what I made for the book club! I don’t cook often, it is not that I don’t like to cook. It is just sometimes it is a bigger hassle to cook for one than I want to deal with. The Mexican in me always makes way too much and I am not going to eat leftovers very much. So I really enjoyed cooking for them.
It was a good time being able to spend my birthday with them! Thanks to the people that called texted to wish me a happy birthday. It was a great day! I am going to go finish another book! haha I hope that everyone has a great rest of your week!
