Dating in the early 2000’s

Hello! I know it has been a long time. I hope that everyone is having a good week, staying cool and getting some much needed rest. I have been enjoying reading and sleeping. I haven’t posted a blog because my life has been pretty boring!

Someone asked me this week how my dating life was going and all I could do was laugh! It is not going! haha I was talking to a guy online and I thought things were going well and then boom he unmatched me. I have had guys get upset that I don’t want them to come over to my house for a first meeting, or I don’t want to go to their house. Let me tell you… things are going so well! *Sarcasm*! My mom and I were talking about some of my bad dates from the past. Dating before online dating kinda sucked too! haha

Let me tell you a story about the date that we still laugh about from high school! I will start with a little of the back story. When I was in high school my parents were in the process of remodeling the house I grew up in. At the time we had started by taking down sheetrock we were going to tear down a couple walls to make it a more open concept floor plan situation. However, at this time there was no sheetrock on any of the walls in the living room and the walls separating the kitchen and living room was just down to the studs. we may even had our fridge in the living room at the time, I don’t remember when that ended up in the living room. I do know for sure that it was a mess like definitely doing some remodeling.

So, when I was in high school I worked at the mall. At the time of this story I was working at footlocker. I was only going to high school half a day so sometimes I worked 8-hour shifts. This meant I got a lunch break, since I was a financially irresponsible teenager usually I would just go down to the food court and grab something. One of the times I walked down to the food court for lunch there was a cute new guy that worked at the corn dog place. He and I were kind of flirting or whatever so I give him my number and we talked about hanging out. Like I said I worked at foot locker, you know that uniform is pretty hard to miss! haha so, he knew where to find me when he got off work. He stopped by Foot Locker on his way out, we talked for a little while we set something up to go out. I don’t rememeber if we were going out that night or the next evening, but we made plans.

So the night of this guy comes to the door, he rings the doorbell and my dad opens the door. He lets this kid in and as he walks in to the very chaotic living room a dog follows him in. W get ready to leave and my dad’s like you guys have fun be careful or whatever dads say when a stranger comes to pick up their daughter! haha as we go to leave that dog that followed him in stays in my parents living room. My brother says “hey bro you forgot your dog” and that guy looks at my parents and he said “That’s not my dog! I thought it was y’all’s dog!” Gav says “we don’t have any pets!” We leave and let Gavin and my parents to deal with the random dog now in our living room! Still to this day we don’t know whose dog it was or where it came from, it had just apparently followed him in.

So we go on this date. He doesn’t really have a plan so we are driving around just kind of hanging out and talking. At one point he looks over at me and says “Have I told you I’ve done time in juvie?” I Look at him and I say “Oh? No you have failed to mention that…”. In this guys defense, we hadn’t really like talked about life goals or anything, we met at the food court! haha. He says “yep! I’ve done some time in juvie for stealing cars!” As must of you know I wear my feelings on my face! I must have had a really nervous look as I looked around the car. He said “oh no don’t worry this one’s mine!” Whew, I feel so relived… *sarcasm* So we’re driving around a little bit longer and he reaches into the console between us and he pulls out a joint and he says “is that not the biggest joint you’ve ever seen?!” I was like “You know what?! That is the only joint I have ever seen! Can you take me home?” The only thing I kept thinking the whole ride home was “we’re going to get pulled over! We’re in a stolen car! We have the biggest joint that either of us have ever seen! I don’t even know this guys last name!?”

I got home safely and needless to say we did not ever go out again. I actually never saw him working at the food court again. I saw him one time with a couple of his friends walking the mall. I honestly don’t even remember this guys name, but we laugh about the fact that this guy randomly brought a dog in to the house! My mom always said that she couldn’t believe the audacity this stranger had to not only bring his dog on a first date but also to just let it free roam in to the house! “You forgot your dog!” haha

Dating! It’s crazy out there! I have a few online dating stories to share but I will save those for another blog! haha keep an eye out for that one! I am headed to bed! I hope that everyone has a great weekend!
