A gateway to science

Something cool happened today. For those of you that were not in the path from Texas to Maine, yes, there was an eclipse. If you have never seen something like this there are no words to explain how cool it was. This is the first time I have ever seen a total eclipse! It got night time dark in the middle of the day, well like that time of night before it goes from day to night. We felt the temperature drop, and if you were on a middle school campus you heard screams! haha It was a very cool experience (not the screams!)

But that is not even the coolest part. I am talking about the almost 800 kids (on my campus alone!) that were able to see this amazing bit of science! There were so many conversations about science! Kids were talking to adults, adults were talking to adults, kids were talking to kids. The wonder and amazement that we all shared was just too cool! It might not seem like a big deal but today was a pretty cool way to get kids in to science! One of my friends has a son that was so excited about the eclipse that he faked not being sick so that he could go see it. He came in and threw up everywhere but he got to see it! I know that there were so many kids all over the district, Texas and the path to main that took a few minutes out of their day to experience this cool event.

I think it is important for people to experience these kinda things! I am a science nerd so I was super excited about this. I know that adults took the time to see it too but I focus on the kids because I hope that after today there are kids all over that find science just a little bit cooler! Maybe our next big scientist that is destined to create something awesome will get their start all because they saw an eclipse when they were a kid and it awoke a love for science! Here are some memes I gathered and some pictures from today! I really should finish some homework! haha (I laughed so hard at the alpaca lips!!!!!)
