Hello hello! I hope my Texas people are staying warm. Well I hope the rest of you are warm too but the Texas people are really going through it right now!

Let me start with an online dating story. Tuesday I started talking to a guy. He seemed cool and all was going well so we exchanged numbers Wednesday and started texting. So we texted off and on all day. Well in the evening I stayed at school kinda late to watch the basketball game then went to a friends house to work on my CV. He texted and I was focused on what I was doing so I was slow to respond. He asked what I was doing and I told him I was working on my CV. He asked if I was changing jobs. Again I was slow to respond because I was busy. She he started sending me messages back to back. I told him I needed it for my grad school application. Then he starts with “oh am I bothering you?” “I hope I am not bugging” “What are you doing now” So he is starting to irritate me then he says “I want you”. Dude… you just went 0 to 60! So on top of him being needy he sends this. So I tell him that I am busy. So keeps sending messages finally I tell him “this isn’t going to work out. Good luck to you. Good bye!” he says “oh no what did I say” I just responded with “good night sir!” “he was like “what did I say?” I Willy Wonkad him again “I said good night sir!” Then I block his number and move on with life. You think dang that is the end, thats what I thought… until yesterday. I got a text message from a number I didn’t know and it said “Hey Naomi, how are you doing?” I said “I don’t seem to have this number saved.” He tells me it’s James. Before I He proceeds to ask how I am holding up in the cold, you know we make small talk. Then finally I ask for a picture. He asks “Why? Do you judge a book by it’s cover.” I said “yes, I do but we aren’t talking about books, I am trying to figure out who you are?!” So he sent me a picture and book I realized this is the guy that I blocked. He is using a different number. I asked him what number this was because I blocked the other number. He asked me why I didn’t want to talk to him any more. I told him that it was super creepy that I told him I didn’t want to talk to him anymore then he found a different number to contact me on and for him to leave me alone. He just kept asking why don’t you want to talk to me any more. I mean I am not over reacting right? I mean it is creepy right?!?

So back to the reason for the blog! haha I grew up in North Western New Mexico. The elevation is about 5400 feet. In case you are wondering Denver elevation is about 5200 feet. Winter lasted for months and during that time we got snow and there was ice on driveways and sidewalks. Texas winters are so crazy because 1) the municipal infrastructure isn’t prepared 2) it isn’t snow, it rains ice here! 3) It is so unpredictable. it was 70 degrees 3 days ago!

When we were kids we had to get up and watch the news to see if we were having a 2 hour delay or a snow day. My dad has worked for the city for a very long time. He has been part of the crew that does the snow plowing or the sanding of the streets. So we would wake up and check if dad was in bed. If he was in bed we 100% had school. If he was not home then we would turn on the TV to find out if we were going to school late or at all! It makes it so hard to be prepared for winter when winter lasts three days. Our homes aren’t prepared, our plants aren’t prepared so I understand the roads not being prepared!

We are off of school tomorrow because of the weather, we were already off today because of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It seems crazy. The sun came out today so most of the snow has already melted and dried up. But, making that decision is way over my pay grade so I turned off my alarm for tomorrow already! haha A past time of Texans in the three days of winter is making soup! I mean don’t get me wrong I made a soup too! haha it was a baked potato soup that I got from tiktok. haha some of the soups my friends made were tomato, potato, chili, french onion, some cowboy vegetable beef thing, lentil and some citrus white bean soup. I got the recipes from some of these people so stay tuned for that! haha

Not having to go to work tomorrow opens up my evening! haha I am going to go watch a movie maybe, or read a book, or take a nap. haha I hope that everyone stays warm and if any of you want to send me a soup recipe to try I will gladly take it! I had to buy a new crockpot and this one is a little fancier so I can leave it cooking while I am at work or class nights.
