Happy saturday! I hope that everyone is enjoying the weekend. I am working on the tedious stuff to make sure that I am ready for the students to show up on Monday!

I am not big on online shopping but I have two orders being delivered on Monday. I got some stamps for my class but really the exciting thing is I bought a new purse and a new backpack. The purse Lowanna helped me pick out and it had been sitting in my cart for a couple weeks but I finally pulled the trigger. Really it was because I wanted the stamps and it was in the cart!

School was very important in my house growing up. My parents worked very hard, late hours and extra hours to make sure we got not only what we needed but what we wanted for school. Every year we got new clothes, new shoes and new school supplies. I was a bit particular about my backpack. It had to be a jansport. Looking back now I am pretty sure that my backpacks were probably god from year to year but I insisted I needed a new one every year, and dad obliged. As an adult I realize more and more what a sacrifice that was. The first time I bought my own jansport backpack was a real eye opener to me! I paid over 50 bucks for it and it was on sale at Kohls. I remember calling my dad and thanking him! All that to say that now I carry my jansport backpacks basically until they fall apart. I have had mine for a few years, I think I got it in 2020. The reason I got a new one was because my zipper broke. Jansport does have a lifetime warranty with a few exceptions. They might decide that the zipper has had a good life and decide not to do anything. But I am gonna mail it in and try and see. I haven’t taken advantage of the warranty before but this might be a first!

I laminated a card sort I was going to do Tuesday. I made enough for 8 groups and then after I cut out 2 of them I remembered I was doing it as stations so I only need like 4! So that was helpful I only need a couple more. I am doing punch cards for my students so I cut out a million of those because when they fill up one I want them to be able to get another one. It is tedious work but I just keep telling myself it will be worth it! haha I have Monday and Tuesday lessons solid. Like presentations made, and everything. I mean I guess mostly Wednesday too. The problem is I keep seeing things that I am like ooo yeah I can totally do that and I try to add it to the plan. Monday changed like 5 times. I need to stop looking at it! haha

Last week we did a transition camp sort of thing. We let the incoming 6th graders come in, get their schedule and walk around. We showed them where their classes are, where to find the bathrooms, where the cafeteria is… you know the lay of the land. Well my shoes gave me blisters. They weren’t even new shoes. they were shoes I had last year. I don’t know why they gave me such bad blisters! Well this week I wore a new pair of shoes and it opened up the blisters again. I was trying to wear shoes that wouldn’t but you know new shoes! Well early in the week I knew I was going to have an issue so I grabbed a pair of flip flops on the way out. In case my shoes were bothering me I could put them on. Well I was fine that day the next day I wore different flip flops and then totally different shoes that didn’t hurt at all. Well yesterday when I went to put my flip flops back on the one that had been sitting on the seat in the sun had shrunk! Do you remember Shrink a dinks? Basically you baked this plastic and it turned in to a smaller hard piece of whatever you colored or drew. Well my shoe shrink a dinked! Just the one though. I assume it is the one that was more in contact with the sun! This Texas heat is no joke!

This week was exhausting! Getting up early and like doing things was tiring! I don’t understand why during PD week we have to go back earlier than we do during the school year? I get that we get a longer lunch During PD week. However, unpopular opinion, What do we need an hour and a half for? Give me at least half an hour back in the morning! haha

This blog was kinda all over the place but that is how my brain is at the moment! haha Well I am tired of working for today. I am going to look at a little planning tomorrow but for tonight I think I am done! I hope that everyone has a good weekend!
