Happy Thursday! I hope none of you are melting! It has been so hot. This has been a pretty good week! I had a couple adventures but most of the week I have just getting ready for my trip to New Mexico. I bought road snacks and drinks and an atlas. I am currently waiting for my oil change to be finished and I thought what better time than this for a story from my childhood!
Funny story about the atlas before the zookeeper story. So I want to map out some geocache to collect along the road to New Mexico. Last time I tried to do it with my phone but really it just didn’t work out the way I wanted it to with my phone. So the plan is to sort of do it old school with a map. So I googled where I could by an atlas and it said that I could probably get one at Walmart, Target or of course Barnes and Noble. So I had something to take back to Target anyway and I wanted to get some snacks so I thought… perfect! So I went to where I thought they would be. You know by the books. Well I didn’t see one so I went to the closest associate, which was electronics, and asked.
Me: Excuse me do you carry any atlases?
Target guy: What’s an atlas?
Me: ๐
Target guy: ๐
Me: A book maps
He looked it up and ended up finding out that most of them would just be found online not in store. As I walked off I heard him tell his coworkers “OMG I feel so dumb I just asked her what is an atlas?! I know what an atlas is!!!!” haha Poor kid!
Ok so now onto my zookeeper story. Let me give you a bit of back story. School was very important in our house when we were kids. When school season came we got new clothes, new shoes, new school supplies and also new backpacks. Anything we thought we needed to be successful we got, I know there were even a couple years I got a lunch box knowing dang well I would take like 2 lunches all year! I have always hated shopping. I hate trying on clothes, I hate walking around the stores. It is not my thing!
One year I went clothes shopping with my dad. I want to say it was maybe the summer before 4th grade? Maybe 3rd? I don’t remember why I was shopping with dad and not mom. It wasn’t even like mom was on the other side of the store because we bought this clothes and took it home! Whatever the reason was my dad took me shopping at Sears. Yup that is right Sears. I don’t know how many “outfits” he actually bought me but the one I do remember was a pair of khaki shorts and a khaki but down shirt. He had me try it on and I remember coming out of the dressing room and being like “dad!?! I look like a zookeeper!” He was like no you don’t you look cute! “A zookeeper!?!” So I am sure there was other clothes but we took the zookeeper outfit too. We got home and mom asked how shopping went and I remember crying and being like “dad bought me clothes to make me a zookeeper!” She had me try on the clothes and show her all of the stuff we bought and I remember putting on the matching khaki outfit and being like “see I look like a zookeeper!” She calmed me down and we came to a compromise that the shorts might actually be ok with maybe some different tops. So we did take the shirt back and my dad never took me shopping alone again!
Don’t take this story the wrong way I love my dad very much but we have always had very different ideas of “fashion”. We are both very aware of it! Looking back I have so many questions like 1) Where was my mom!? 2) SEARS?!?! 3) Where did we even find a zookeeper khaki shirt!? 4) What is it with men needing to super match or super NOT match!? Man it still makes me chuckle sometimes. My dad really didn’t see the problem he thought I looked “cute”!

Well the creepy guys sitting by the coffee pot left. It might be a million degrees outside but I think I will take a cup of coffee! haha I hope that everyone has a great rest of your week! Be ready for some picture over loads on the next blog!
