Happy last Tuesday before Christmas! Sounds crazy to say it that way doesn’t it? I mean you still have almost an entire week to get ready but it is upon us! I am already out for the break. I don’t like when we get out with this much time to spare. I would rather have had the extra days on the other end of the break! I mean yes I did go to Tj Maxx and get a new suitcase and didn’t even have to wait in line, but I said what I said!
I am pretty exited I will be spending some time with my parents! I haven’t been home for Christmas in like three years. It has been crazy. So much has happened in that time. The family that usually keeps Gabbana moved to Houston, I had to buy a new suitcase because mine broke the last time I traveled and I am traveling on a day when people are still working so I had to reevaluate my ride situation. But no one worry, Gabbana found a loving home to spend the holiday at and I made it to the airport with so much time to spare. My flight was supposed to leave at 1:40. Now they are saying 4:10. I was only supposed to have a 45 minute layover in Denver so I had to get that rescheduled. United was pretty good about getting that done. But the way this delay is going… I hope I make the 6:55 flight out of Denver! One more delay and I may have to get on that 8:00 flight out of Denver! haha To think I am not even flying on Spirit this time! haha The bottom line is I paid for the ticket they will get me there! I hope it’s today but if not… then it is tomorrow! It’s an adventure! I started a new book. It is said to be suspenseful and good but so far there is a lot of character building. I am hoping it picks up soon! I will keep yall posted about that! My goal is 2 books over the holiday. Let’s see!
My word for this year was courage. Yesterday someone asked me where I was in relation to being more courageous. I heard her ask and then we got super distracted and started doing and talking about something else but I heard her and I have been thinking about it.
I think the biggest act of courage was taking the leap to start my masters. It is something I have been putting off for years. I will say that I am so glad that I decided to do it! I have started getting to know some of my classmates and I see some great friendships developing!
Speaking of friendships, another thing I have done this year that took a little courage is create boundaries. One of them is with friends. My whole life I have jumped into friendships and then been like whoa that person is NOT my friend. Or somehow I end up putting more into the friendship. This year I have stuck to my boundary that even though we are all busy and we all have our lives, friends want to be there for you, they are there when you reach out, they reach out to you! I have a friend that is just an amazing human raising amazing humans. She is working on her Doctorate at Tarleton. We don’t always see each other, we don’t always answer each others text messages but we are there for life events! I often have a hard time talking about my accomplishments. I don’t ever want to sound like I am bragging. But Carlee! She brags about me enough for the both of us! Carlee thank you, thank you for being my hype man, thank you for reminding me that I am doing great things and thank you for just being awesome! Carlee in case you need the reminder you are basically pretty awesome too!!! I am so excited to see what your future has in store!!
Another boundary that I set is trying to put a little more work/ school/ life balance! I am taking less work stuff home. I am trying to designate weekends for school and my mental health! I don’t have my emails on my phone. IT is for sure helping. The act it’s self probably isn’t courageous but making myself understand and believe that work doesn’t have to be my life!
Courage isn’t always slaying dragons and adventures. Sometimes It is just doing something out of your comfort zone or doing something that might not be popular. Courage was a good word for this year. I have no idea for the word for 2023. Do any of you have a word yet?
We just got notification that they changed the plane and it is in the air! I may make that connection after all!! I am so excited to have NM food! Oh, yeah and to see all of my Farmington people! haha I hope all of you have a great day!
