Why is it always my salad

Happy Wednesday! I hope that everyone is having a good week! I don’t know where you are but where I am it is hot and gross! This week has been a little more stressful and frustrating than it needed to be. I did have a couple meetings at school but that is for a good reason.

Let me start by saying I am ok! So after I left Starbucks Saturday when I finished my blog I went grocery shopping. If you haven’t shopped at WinCo you are missing out. I love that place! Anyways I got there and I went to the bathroom before I started my grocery shopping like I always do because you know that’s how I roll. I got some pork chops, I got some strawberries, a pre-made salad mix was on sale so I got one of those. It was getting kind of late so I was like “Self  you know what this will be perfect for dinner!”. I grabbed some chips, some tuna, some cans of corn. I promise there’s a reason why I’m telling you everything I got. I grabbed some cans of those ice drinks. Now they come in cans and they’re caffeinated. I hadn’t tried them so I was like hey why not I’ll try them I got like four of them, One of each flavor. I got a loaf of bread. I got some shrimp to add to my salad they’re like little shrimp. You know they were previously frozen but WinCo sells them in containers kind of thing. I got some hard-boiled eggs, also for my salad. Some pizza rolls and some meatballs. I check out and I leave.

I don’t know how many of you know this about me but when I’m in the car I listen to audiobooks. However, whatever audiobook I am listening to I also have to have the paper copy of the book.  When I am in the car I am listening to the audiobook and then when I am at a place where I want to read I can pull out the paper book and I can go forward in the book to where I finished listening in the car. Well right now I am reading the last Harry Potter book. if you’ve seen the Deathly Hallows movie, or read the book, you know how intense it gets there towards the end.  Harry’s back at Hogwarts mcgonagall is trying to figure out what’s going on. so it’s pretty intense I’m sitting at a stoplight minding my own business. Just sitting there listening. I wasn’t on my phone. I wasn’t eating anything. I was literally just sitting and staring at the car in front of me when out of nowhere an expedition slammed into the back of me. I hadn’t seen it coming. I looked up and saw myself rolling toward the car in front of me. I realized I could hear outside. I had no idea what was going on. I looked down and was like why is my leg wet!? I had a coffee cup in the cup holder and it splashed my leg. I put it in park and I got out of the car. The guy in the car behind me is walking toward me. He just keeps saying sorry. A couple that was in front of me came over to make sure I was ok. I called 911 and got that going. They had us move off to the shoulder and then the cops showed up. They were there pretty quick. I don’t know if I had a “I’m about to kill someone” look on my face or what but the cop seemed to try to keep himself between me and the other guy. While we were waiting for the other cop to fill out the police report I heard someone run over my bag of salad and it popped. I also saw one of my canned Ice drinks rolling away. One of the officers was like “so you were grocery shopping?” I said “yeah… that popped bag of salad was my dinner!” My mom said I should have asked the guy that hit me for 20 bucks to go get dinner! Haha There were a lot of police officers there, one of them told us that we could get each other’s information from the police report. So we didn’t exchange anything. I do know that the guy that hit me was driving his brother’s vehicle.

It is almost 10 at this point. When I get home I call my dad, because who doesn’t call their dad when something like this happens!? He asks the most dad questions ever! Haha He asks if I am ok, like repeatedly. When I assure him I am he asks how my car was and if I drove it home. Then he said “it sucks that your car is messed up but in the grand scheme of things the car can be replaced Naomi can’t!” I talked to my mom for about an hour. I realized I was starving because remember my salad was roadkill!

This has all been the biggest pain ever! So I called my insurance on Sunday and they told me we could file a claim or we could go through the other guy’s insurance because it was his fault. I was like “yes. That!” Well we used the license plate from the picture I took to get the guy’s insurance information because remember the cops didn’t really let us exchange info. So I set up a claim with his insurance. I did make sure that she knew my salad was run over! She said she would make a note of it! haha Well Monday morning his insurance calls me and tells me that they can’t get a hold of the insured. So there’s this little drama of the fact that the brother was not on the insurance. So here I am fighting with the other guy’s insurance to try to get a rental and to get my stuff fixed. The lady told me I didn’t have to wait for her to get her guy, I could just run it through mine. Hello no! This has been such a pain in the butt! I have learned a few lessons along the way. I have never had to navigate this kind of issue by myself! I keep getting frustrated that I don’t know things and my mom keeps asking me how am I supposed to know these things if they aren’t things that I had encountered before? I just feel so helpless! Pierce and her husband helped me tape some plastic to teh back window that so that it isn’t just open to the elements. I don’t think they have any idea how much I appreciate them!

So that is how my week is going! And here I sit, driving a ghetto car all smashed in the back with the back window taped off with plastic waiting for the other driver to accept responsibility. Insurance sucks! Well I have more reading to do for class. 3 more classes for this summer session! I still have an entire 10 page paper to write, so that is what I will be doing for the next week! Y’all have a great rest of the week!
