Happy Monday! I hope that everyone is staying cool and safe. It is hot as hell out there! It is just miserable hot! There was also sahara sand on the horizon this morning. Makes it look like the movies when they try to portray hot! I am not one of those that complains during the winter so I can complain during the summer! Haha This summer has already been so busy! I am going to need a summer break from my summer break! Last week I went to a 4 hour meeting, a 6 hour science training session and then I spent the rest of time working on this baby shower that we threw for one of our coworkers.
I was ready to update y’all on the dresser days ago but there was an issue with my handles being delivered. During the school year I have my amazon packages sent to the school. I spend so much time there that I don’t like it just sitting on my porch when I am not home. Well I forgot to switch the delivery address when I ordered the dresser handles. Then Amazon kept saying that no one was there. I don’t understand why delivery people can’t find the “let me in” button! So they were supposed to be in on Tuesday but they didn’t get in till Thursday. I wasn’t able to get there to get them so Barron grabbed them for me. She and I were going to see each other at the shower. The dresser came out so much better than I could have imagined and it fits so well in the space. This is exactly where I wanted it to go.

So this shower I keep talking about. Pierce and I threw a shower for Vernon. Vernon had his first little girl in May. We had a sip and see for them. We used a book theme. Everything was related to a book. We made a very hungry caterpillar going up the stairs. We had a room that was decorated with Fancy Nancy (I had never heard of this Fancy Nancy!) One room was set up with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, there was a room decorated with Goldilicious (Also had never heard of this one either… There is a whole series behind this one. There is a pinkilicious, tealicious and a silverlicious!) Then all the food went with a book. We used green eggs and ham, corduroy, blueberries for sal, Some potato book, Peter Rabbit, Very hungry Caterpillar, if you give a mouse a cookie, cloudy with a chance of meatballs, 3 little pigs from the wolf’s perspective, chicks and salsa, James and the Giant Peach, willy Wonka and chocolate factory. It took a lot to get ready! I used a few skills that I picked up in my younger days. I never for the world thought that I would have been able to use the knowledge of rolling silverware or cutting lemons! Here are a few pictures of how it came out! It was exhausting but it came out exactly how we wanted! The baby went home with a lot of new books.

Today I was in Dallas for the AVID Summer Institute. The morning session was great. It was all about science. I made a couple connections with science teachers from around the state. The afternoon session was pretty lame. The presenters didn’t really know what they were doing, the technology wasn’t working, and the room was freezing. I did run into Katie and Lorin! It was nice to see them! Well It is almost 11 and I have to get up EARLY so that we can get to Dallas early!
