The Chronicles Of Nay

Happy Thursday! I hope that everyone is doing well! I am exhausted! It’s the end of the year and there is so much I love about this time of year! Not only the light at the end of the tunnel but all of the things that bring the year to an end. Yesterday I witnessed my first Senior walk. They didn’t used to come to the 6th grade center. It was amazing to see so many of these young men and women walking down the halls with so much ahead of them! I am so proud of all of them! I for sure got a little choked up! I recognized a few of them. They all change so much in 6 years! 

We also did our awards ceremony yesterday. The kids that received awards were called and they walked across the stage to get their awards. Some of them were so nervous! It was a nice event! We got to pick 4 students each. It was hard to pick just 4. 

This year has been a difficult one. I am not really good with change. There was a lot of change this year. A new school, new procedures, new people to name a few! I am looking forward to the end. I need some rest and to reset. There are some things that I hope we change for next year. There were some struggles just being at a new campus but also having the 6th grade being new, adding the extra 400+ kids. There are some things that I hope will work themselves out as the students have another full year of being back at school. I am changing my classroom theme again. I think I am going to go back to the Harry Potter theme. I tried Llamas this year and although I do like the lamasI didn’t stick to my ticket system. I like the idea of the beads for houses and then they will compete per 6 weeks! What I really liked was the sorting. I will have the kids take a personality test the first couple days of school then I will “sort” them into houses. I have a few other ideas that I need to run by admin before I get too carried away!  You know me, always looking for ideas! Haha 

Class is going pretty well! I have fallen into a nice little routine so that’s good. I am enjoying the math part of the class. I know that is strange! Haha We should be getting into the research part here pretty soon. I know that things will fall into place but I very much feel like I don’t know what I am doing! The research aspect is very intimidating! We have our first quiz due tomorrow. I think I am ready for this quiz, it is all mathy. 

Yesterday during school I gave my student’s a final exam. One of the kids asked if it was going to affect their grade. I said yes! He asked “is it like 40% of our grade?” I said sure! Haha The final exam was all about me! It asked things that I knew I had told them. like what my brother’s name was, what my sister in law does and what my favorite drink was. Some of the answers were funny. Like they thought my brother’s name was Carl. I found out I say “so” a lot, I also offer to karate chop people for different reasons and they notice.  Some of the things they will miss is the smell of coffee, the LED lights and the overall chill vibe of the room! I didn’t ask their name so I am not sure what kids answered what unless they told me. This was the first time I did this and I will 100% do this again in the future! 

Well it is kinda late and I plan on taking this quiz in the morning before school so I should get to bed! I hope that everyone has a great Friday and a happy three day weekend.
