The Chronicles Of Nay

Happy Friday! I hope that everyone made it through the week. This was a tough one! The kids were wound up super tight this week! I threatened to take off today because if they were that rowdy yesterday I was worried what today would be like! However, as Barron pointed out when they are super wound up then Friday can actually be calm. A good deal of the turkeys got suspended! So today wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. 

Last Sunday I bought 2 bags of starburst jelly beans! They are my favorite and it was jelly bean season! Well I took them into my classroom with the other things I was stocking the fridge with. You know, this week’s creamer, some cheese my chicken for my lunch which turned out to be gross. Well my 2 bags of jelly beans went missing. I was so irritated! I was looking forward to those.

Those of you that know my dad know that he is one of the most giving people ever. My dad would give you the shoes off his feet or the shirt off his back if he saw you needed it. It is one of the things that I admire about him! It has also made me who I am. Do you have a saying that someone says that I mean yeah I guess you could look at it that way but usually when they say it… It is not something that you wanna hear. Well the thing that my dad would say is “ obviously they needed it more than you did! You just blessed someone else.” So this morning when I was sure that my jelly beans were nowhere to be found I heard my dad saying his line. But I didn’t want to bless someone else! I wanted to eat those dang jelly beans myself! Honestly it is the strangest thing. I have 2 Chromebooks, lord knows how many chargers and an Ipad out and about at any given time. My keys are in my desk, not really under lock and key and I have a bad habit of leaving my phone just on my desk. I have never had any issues with that. But my jelly beans? That they steal! 

I get so frustrated because we give so much of ourselves and our money yet this is how some students treat us! Let’s be honest, I probably would have shared with them but now no one gets any! They steal the stupidest things. Last week they stole Pierce’s hot Cheetos, they steal pencils like they are going out of style and my jelly beans!  

So funny story I typed all that out on Tuesday morning… Then I found my jelly beans. I had put them in a safe place so that they wouldn’t get stolen! I should not have laughed as hard as I did about it. Poor panic attack Allan! I was very sure He had taken them! No one worry though… I found them! Haha oops! Good thing I hadn’t made a bigger deal about it! Haha

So to change the subject completely! Two years ago I was awarded the academic chair for teaching excellence in secondary science! It’s a pretty prestigious thing that our district does! It has an application, they record a lesson and then there is an interview. It comes with a few things in honor of being awarded this. One of the things was a banner that was hung on your school. Well when we moved schools my banner went missing. I have been asking anyone that would listen to me for the past 9 months about it! A couple months ago the 7th grade AP Rodriguez told me that if she couldn’t find it she would have a new one made for me! Well… after bugging for 9 months she came through! I don’t know who all was involved in it but I do know that both Barron and Rodriguez (and a quick pop in from Morris) presented me with my banner in the middle of class complete with music and some awkward dancing!  My students were concerned that was all I got for my hard work! Haha but they were very supportive and admired my banner when I finally got it hung today! I am glad to have it hanging in my room now!  Never letting it out of my sight! I also think I’m going to have a jacket made! Haha i will keep y’all updated on that!

Well I’m exhausted! I am going to try to see a meteor shower a little after midnight. The plan is to take a little nappy and get up and go check it out! Haha we shall see if I actually get up! Haha I hope y’all have a great weekend!
