Happy Sunday! I am sorry that I have not written lately. I keep saying I am going to write a blog then I sit down to blog and have nothing to say or if I have something to say I have no energy to say it!! The week leading up to Spring break is EXHAUSTING! Every year! We did a “week before spring break bingo”. There were things on it like “getting an email that says all hands on deck” or “get some rest” or “someone asks to borrow a student for just a moment” you know those things that happen like clock work! 

Last  week was exhausting. The kids were ridiculous. I am so tired of hearing “why”. I lost it on a kid that asked why earlier this week. Because I said! That is why! I felt like such a mom! Haha honestly though, there are so many reasons that I might say no. Like maybe the student is using it to get out of doing work, they have 5 missing assignments and this is going to make 6! Maybe I got an email saying no kids in the hall for a reason, maybe there is already someone out of my room, maybe I have to go to the bathroom and if I can’t you can’t either! Jk that last one is a joke! My students are going to hate “after spring break Ms Gutierrez ” We are all getting new seats, we are going to go back to no one is leaving the room unless you are bleeding! If I hear “why ” one more time we are gonna have some issues! The kids have turned in to 7th graders and I do not approve!  

I saw a TikTok this week that talked about this being the longest our students have been in school in 3 years. I mean I get it. Yes this is why we are all May tired in March, however that does not give them the right to be jerks! The students have just decided that they are going to do whatever they want! Like I get it we all like to snack and the argument “let them eat if they are hungry” is all fine and dandy if they threw their trash away. If they didn’t leave crumbs all over my floor or Cheeto finger dust all over every surface of my room. Sometimes rules are stupid and we don’t want to follow them but we do because they are rules. Imagine if you thought that the speed limit on a street should be 50 instead of the posted 35. Just because everyone else is doing it, or because you don’t understand or like the posted speed limit does not give you the right to drive 50. Let’s be honest, some of the rules at school are like that too. I understand the students think that dresscode is stupid, I think the fact that I have to check that they are dressed appropiatly is also stupid however it is a rule. If I ask them to take the hood off or put your jacket on so that I can’t see that the shirt they are wearing isn’t dress code, just do it! This week I had 2 students walk out of my room because I asked them to follow directions. They told me no and I told them I was not going to allow them to do just whatever they wanted. So they walked out. I had a student that I asked to stop talking and get his work done throw a fit. Like a temper tantrum. He kicked a chair at his table, made some huff kind of noises and then sat there slouched in his chair tapping his pencil the rest of class.  If you have teacher friends, check on them, they are not ok! 

So on top of all of that I am on a quest for a bucket truck or a cherry picker or whatever you call it. In years past we would have the students create a container that would keep an egg safe when dropped from say the height of a 2 story building. The students got into it! They enjoyed it! Then TexDot would send out a couple of guys with a bucket truck and they would take the students’ projects up and drop them! We would then have the Fire department come out and wash off all the eggs that didn’t survive the drop! Well I emailed the TxDOT guy and he hasn’t responded. So now I am on a quest to find one! I appreciate everyone that has given alternative solutions. Yes I very well could throw them out a window. However I want a bucket truck! It makes it like an event! You know? Don’t worry I have emailed the city, Atmos, Oncor, and a tree service company. I will find a bucket truck! So if you are in the DFW area and you have access to a bucket truck please let me know! 

I am supposed to go on a lunch date tomorrow. We shall see. We haven’t talked much online before he invited me to lunch tomorrow so, we shall see! I will keep you posted! This week I have some big spring break plans! I plan on taking naps, watching some netflix, maybe doing some geocaching and reading. It will be a good week for sure!
