Happy Thursday! I finally posted twice in one week! HahaI need to stop posting in the middle of the night but I constantly feel like I don’t have enough time during the day to do everything I want to do. So that is why I find myself blogging in the middle of the night. Honestly it doesn’t matter. I enjoy writing and sharing my life with you! Like this little gem from class this week! So we were talking about convection currents. I asked the kids if they remember convection because we had studied it before. One of the kids raised his hand and very excited he knew the answer and said “That’s when you get kicked out of your house right?!” I was not prepared for that answer so I think I just stared at him. The kid next to him said “Dude she said Convection, That is eviction!” by this time another kid shouted out “convection is when the hot air goes up and the cold air comes down!” Which is the answer I was looking for so we just kinda moved on. I was pretty impressed that the other kid knew what he was talking about. It is also kinda sad that they kids have this knowledge. It is a sad reality. Sometimes I forget some of the shit that these kids have to deal with. So in other news, before this gets too depressing, This blog is a bit of randomness but sometimes I just think of these awesome stories and I have to share!
Yesterday I was on the phone with mom after work and she said she was just leaving the grocery store. She said that she was looking for crackers and they didn’t have any. And I thought “ ohh self, (That’s how I address myself so that I know I am talking to myself) crackers sound good I should get some!” I have always been a fan of crackers. When I was like 2 I apparently asked for crackers for my birthday. I got a box of crackers and was super excited and when I opened a second box of crackers I was even more excited. I put my 2 boxes of crackers aside to continue opening my gifts. Someone stopped me and told me to open the box. I kept telling them that I didn’t want to eat crackers now I wanted to save them. They finally convinced me to open it and I was so sad to find clothes. I never trusted a gift box after that! Who gives a 2 year old their favorite snack box full of clothes!
I know it’s strange but I actually have another cracker story! So I grew up going to church. I know that many churches use different things for communion. The church I grew up in we used what I later found out were called oyster crackers. The only time I had ever seen them was for communion. When I was like 12 I was doing something in the pantry and I found a brand new package of communion crackers. I remember taking them down and turning to my mom and asking “mom why are we doing communion at home?!?” She was very confused until she saw me holding the crackers. She informed me that they were called oyster crackers and she bought them for the soup she was going to make. Blew my mind! For the record I still call them communion crackers!
I know these were random stories but this is what it is like in my head! Have you ever seen the movie Dreamcatcher? It is based on a Stephen King novel. One of the characters talks about a file room he imagines he has in his head. That there is a little version of himself walking around scrolling through files and stuff. Ever since I saw that movie that is now how I imagine my mind and how I recall information. I picture a little Naomi walking through a file room collecting all the stories about crackers! So on that note I am going to go to bed. This weekend be good, be careful and be safe!
