Good evening! How is everybody doing today? Can you believe it’s already June 2nd? I cannot! I feel like we have skipped over the last three months.
So my goal for the summer is to blog more often. You don’t have to read them any more often, but I plan to blog more than once every three months. So that means if I’m going to blog more I’m going to have to do more. The last three months I’ve done a whole lot of nothing. I’ve spent a lot of time just at home. Which, so I don’t have a lot to write about! That is very evident in all the shows I’ve watched on Netflix. I’ll start with ones I’ve already mentioned and then add the rest. I have watched Grey’s anatomy, the office, Madam Secretary, schitts Creek, Tiger king, love is blind once upon a Time, unorthodox, too hot to handle, Riverdale and I’m currently working on America’s next top model. I’m on season 4.
So in the spirit of doing more, today I got up and went on an adventure. Have you ever heard of Geocaching? So it is kinda like a scavenger hunt. There is a website that you go to and get coordinates for these caches. The caches can be different things. I have found ones that are as small as a bullet and as large as a mayonnaise container. Sometimes the larger ones have little trinkets in them that you can trade out. Some just have a piece of paper that you sign sort of like a “I was here” kinda thing. It’s fun and kinda a challenge. I got into it a few years ago because I was gonna do it with some students. The last couple months I started again. There are a series of caches at different walgreens they are called green walls. I haven’t been able to find the cache at the Walgreens on Camp Bowie. I have been there like three times and still can’t find it. So I woke up determined to find them! I found the cache at the walgreens in Forest hill. Using the knowledge of where I found the one in Forest Hill I drove to the one that I can’t find. And… I still couldn’t find it. I will have to try again. I ended up finding 2 of the 4 that I looked for today. Neither of them were trinket ones. Just logs. One of the ones I didn’t find I gave up on because ground zero had wasps and the other one was covered in ants!
While I was driving around looking and thinking about geocaches I thought “self, you should learn something new… How about Kayaking?” So after my failed attempt at the walgreens I stopped by academy to look at the kayaks. In case you are wondering, no… I have never kayaked. But I want to learn! So I walked around academy looking at kayaks. I have decided that I need to do more research. I don’t have a luggage rack on my car so I need to figure out how I would transport it. Then I have to figure out how I would put it on top of my car and carry it from the car to the water. I just need to do more research. While I wandered around I looked at Yeti cups. I found this lime green one that I fell in love with. Then I found a little pouch you put your cell phone in so that it doesn’t get wet. So after I did a lap around the store I went up to pay for my yeti cup and my phone sleeve. I got to the register and I realized my wallet was not in my hand anymore. I know I had it when I walked in. I freak out and I tell the cashier “um I seem to have lost my wallet” and I just walked away. I retraced my steps and didn’t find it. I was like “stay calm stay calm it’s ok you’ll find it”. I did a second lap retracing my steps and still nothing. I went up to the service desk and asked if anyone turned it in and they told me no. I went to my car and turned off my debit card. I like that feature. You don’t have to say that it was stolen; you can just turn it off until you find it again. So I walked back in and retraced my steps like if the first two times weren’t enough. On my way out I stopped at the service desk to ask if I could leave my number in case someone found it. When I walked up the guy told me “I thought you left! Someone turned in your wallet!” I was so relieved! I grabbed my wallet, thanked the kid and left! (When did I get so old that I refer to all the people working at stores as “kids”?) I didn’t buy my Yeti, I didn’t ask any questions about the kayak. That was enough of an outing and adventure for the day!
On the way home I stopped at starbucks. The s’mores Frappachino is back… which means… I can get marshmallow syrup in my iced coffee! It’s so yummy! I recommend it!
Since Fort Worth has an 8 PM curfew I came home to eat some dinner and watch some Netflix! Stay safe and healthy!
